Submission Guidelines
PORTALES welcomes undergraduate voices from every corner of the Iberian, Hispanic, Lusophone, Latin American, Latinx, Indigenous, and Caribbean worlds. We accept submissions on a rolling basis.
Who Can Submit
Current undergraduate students at any institution, as well as recent graduates within one year of completing their degree, are warmly invited to submit work for consideration.
Accepted Work
- Original research papers and scholarly essays
- Creative work: poetry, fiction, short prose, translations
- Critical essays and book reviews
- Visual and multimedia essays
Double-Blind Review Process
Every submission is reviewed anonymously by our undergraduate editorial board. Please ensure your document contains no identifying information — no name, institution, or biographical detail in the manuscript itself. Identifying information should appear only in the body of your email.
Technical Requirements
- Languages
- Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, or English.
- Word Count
- 1,500 – 5,000 words on average.
- Format
- Microsoft Word document, double-spaced, 12pt serif typeface.
- Abstract
- Include a 250–300 word abstract.
- Keywords
- 5 – 10 keywords describing your work.
